Background
Shop Ship is a Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing Committee campaign to promote retail business and consumer services in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. The program promotes Shippensburg as a business center to residents and visitors by highlighting its businesses. The online directory allows users to search various establishments by name or classification.
Local dining guide brochures have also been produced under the program, with guides for shopping and lodging to follow. Other program components include a discount passbook and advertising partnerships with local media outlets.
Participating businesses display Shop Ship logo decals in their storefront windows. The Shop Ship logo was created by the Shippensburg High School Art Department with collaboration from the Marketing Committee, to encourage customers to shop in Shippensburg while emphasizing the historic nature of our community.
Business Participation Information
Shop Ship program participation is free of charge and open to both Chamber members and non-member businesses. All participating businesses will receive a Web listing and window decal. The campaign also includes advertising through banners, billboards, Web and print media partners. Shop Ship participants are promoted at the Chamber office, at community businesses, on the Shippensburg University campus, and around the region.
With both Chamber members and non-members being included, it shows the collective strength and variety of businesses. Members will be shown more prominently, yet non-members will still be granted listings with an address and phone number. The Chamber hopes that non-members will get more involved, see the value of membership, and eventually join.
Most businesses that meet the following criteria will qualify:
• 17257 (Shippensburg) Zip code
• Retail/consumer-targeted business
• Business category of Shop, Restaurant, or Lodging (other categories may be added in the future)
Businesses that do not qualify for Shop Ship directory listing can still participate by displaying and distributing Shop Ship guides in their place of business. Call to request a supply. All Chamber members are listed in the Chamber Membership Directory, regardless of their Shop Ship program participation.
To participate in the Shop Ship Campaign, businesses should send us the following:
• Contact Name
• Business Name
• Street Address (with 17257 ZIP code)
• Phone Number
• Hours of Operation
• Web site URL (optional)
• E-mail Address (optional)
• Signed Statement: "I agree to put a Shop Ship decal in my front window to show I am participating in the campaign and give the Chamber permission to list my business on the website free of charge."

We reserve the right to reject any application for lack of information or if we feel your business doesn't fit within geographical or categorical scope of this targeted campaign.
